Casa 1510
Begur, Baix Empordà
2015
The architecture of House 1510 arises from its relationship with the site, the views, and the wind. A precise gesture positions the main volume towards the distant landscape while sheltering, from the northern winds, the courtyard located at the rear. The house is organized in an L-shape, closing itself off from neighboring properties and prevailing winds, while opening towards sunlight and the surrounding landscape. This main volume is connected with other stone volumes that act either as a base or as attached pieces that complete the composition and organize the spaces of the house.
The aesthetic is defined by the contrast between the main volume, made of concrete and glass, and the stone volumes that emerge from the ground. The upper body, corresponding to the daytime living area on the first floor, is conceived as a large horizontal window projecting towards the views and establishing a direct relationship with the landscape. The remaining built elements, resolved in exposed stone, anchor the house to the site and define the limits of the southern courtyard together with the swimming pool and the wall that extends westward to complete the ensemble. In this way, a regular and urbanized outdoor space is defined around the house, while the rest of the plot remains in a more natural state.
